Supporting Student Success: Navigating Educational Transitions

IBSCA and the International Baccalaureate invite University College Counsellors, programme coordinators and IB educators to join us at the University of Birmingham for a day dedicated to exploring how best to support IB students transitioning from school to higher education and beyond. The conference will feature discussions on the skills and attributes universities are seeking in candidates and provide delegates with an opportunity to learn more about the academic programmes offered at some of the country’s most popular university destinations.

The conference is relevant to delegates from UK-based IB schools as well as delegates from IB schools outside of the UK who have students interested in studying at a UK university.

Pre-conference Event

A limited number of spaces are available at a pre-conference event for delegates experienced in supporting IB students in their transition from school to higher education. There is no additional charge for this event, which will be held on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 18th 2024. This event will feature a meet & greet with the IB’s Recognition Team as well as a guided tour of the University of Birmingham. This is an opportunity to share your insights and experiences with IB staff as well as discuss key issues pertaining to higher education attainment in the UK. The tentative timings for this event are 14:00 - 16:00 followed by a guided tour of the University of Birmingham.

Attendees of the pre-conference event are also invite to join the IB Recognition Team, University of Birmingham personnel and IBSCA staff for an evening meal with opportunities for networking and further discussion. There is an additional cost for this portion of the day of £40.00 + VAT. The tentative timing for dinner is 18:30.

You are invited to indicate on the registration form whether you are interested in attending either parts of the pre-conference activities. Confirmation of your space will be made in due course.

Our pre-conference event will be held in the Careers Network Seminar Room in the Aston Webb building.

Thursday, 19th September

The main conference will be held at The Teaching & Learning Building.
