Higher Education Conference to return
We are delighted to confirm that we will be returning to staging an annual face-to-face Higher Education Conference. This year’s conference will take place on September 15th at the University of Manchester with a pre-conference workshop for new HE counsellors and a pre-conference dinner on the 14th. As previously, the host university will have a strong presence, with the opportunity to tour the university, but we will be joined by a wide range of other UK and international universities to cover the areas that schools are interested in.
We are currently finalising the programme but expect to have the following inputs:
Teaching and learning in HE following COVID
Trends in application to UK HEI - UCAS
Application to medicine and veterinary science
Update on admissions to Oxford University
The role of IB Global recognition in supporting schools and universities
A selection of representatives from non UK universities, eg US, Netherlands
Feedback on the transition to HE from a panel of IB students attending Manchester University
Advice on entry to the UK for international applicants
Plus the usual sessions on application to a range of subjects, eg engineering, the Arts, economics etc.
This is a great opportunity to meet and network with other counsellors and coordinators, as well as meeting representatives from higher education. Accommodation will be available in a hotel close to the university but given that the university is situated in central Manchester there is no shortage of available accommodation. We will be sending out further details in late June. The cost for this conference will be a nominal £50 thanks to the support of the University of Manchester.
