AI teaching & learning in 2025 & beyond (IBSCA members) - FULL

Open to educators from IBSCA member schools, our free Seminar series provides an in-depth look at some of the key topics and challenges facing our IB community.

The Seminar provides a foundational introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI). It is open to IB educators interested in developing their understanding of AI and how to use it in teaching and learning. The Seminar is open to teachers from all IB programmes (PYP, MYP, DP, CP).


Seminar Description:

AI has significant impacts for teachers and students and will continue to do so in the future. How is AI currently being implemented and how do we prepare for the future?

  • Introduction: importance of AI in education

  • Gaining a foothold: what is AI?

  • Generative AI: what is it and how does it work?

  • How is Generative AI used in teaching and learning (K-12)?

  • AI literacy and policies

  • Challenges and opportunities

  • On-going journey to implementing AI in schools

  • Ethical considerations and the future of AI in education

Seminar Details:

  • 3-hour seminar delivered virtually making access easy and convenient.

  • Led by an experienced IB educator who is part of the IBEN network.

  • Limited to one registration per IBSCA member school. There are a limited number of spaces available, if sufficient interest is expressed a second date may be opened or additional spaces added.

  • Offered free as a benefit of IBSCA membership.

Led By:

This session will be led by experienced IB educator Barbara Stefanics. Barbara has been involved with the IB Diploma Programme since 1982 in a wide range of roles: IB educator, workshop leader and developer, involvement in DP curriculum reviews, DP examiner, DP Consultant and Verification Team Leader. She is also series editor and co-author of the IB co-published Digital Society textbook. 

Barbara is a frequent contributor to My IB discussion forums and is currently the My IB faculty mentor for the IB Education discussion Forums: Digital Society, Technology in the IB Classroom and the My IB mentor for the group: ATL - teaching and learning in the IB classroom. She has conducted DP workshops since 1998 - both face-to-face, virtual and online also initiated and manages the current Facebook groups (IB ATL, DP Digital Society Teaching and Learning, and DS Pre-release). Her top priorities are in providing IB Professional Development and supporting teachers in all aspects of implementing the DP (IB Ed workshops, Approaches to teaching and learning, Extended Essay, Digital Society) and also teaching and learning relating to AI.
