Open to educators from IBSCA member schools, our Seminar series provides an in-depth look at some of the key topics and challenges facing our IB community.

For this Seminar, join us for an exploration of different facets of the IBDP History syllabus. Open to all teachers of IB History. Bring your questions and experience to share with fellow delegates.


This Seminar will enable you to:

  • Look at your school’s History syllabus and align it more to the profile of the student body taking into consideration global, cultural and local contexts.

  • Deepen your understanding of the Internal Assessment to enable you to better support your students in the process as well as helping them find a topic that aligns with their cultural and local context.

  • Look at the ATLs and the Learner Profile attributes and make them relevant to the History syllabus.

  • Consider the link between the Core, in particular TOK and the EE, and the History syllabus.

  • Discuss and share resources to help you in the delivery of the History syllabus.

Seminar Details:

  • 3-hour seminar delivered virtually making access easy and convenient.

  • Led by an experienced IB educator who is part of the IBEN network.

  • Limited to one registration per IBSCA member school. There are a limited number of spaces available, if sufficient interest is expressed a second date may be opened.

  • Offered free as a benefit of IBSCA membership.

Led By:

This seminar is led by experienced IB educator, Meredieth Hughes. Meredith studied History, with a particular focus on African American history and Art as well as English at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and has a Masters of Fine Art in Creative Writing from the University of Washington in Seattle. In 2003, she completed her Masters of Education and has been teaching History, TOK and Language A: English at the Nelson Mandela School in Berlin, Germany since 2005.  She participated in the setting up of the IB DP programme at her school which became an IB World School in 2005.  She has held the position of DP Examiner for both TOK and History and has been a workshop leader for six years and has led workshops for IBSCA, Ibicus, InThinking and the IB.
