Seminar Objectives:
To present a case study on how Stonyhurst have approached the TOK Exhibition - a focus on skills development and how to scaffold learning to support students in the successful curation of their TOK exhibition.
To provide a practical session on selecting objects in response to given prompts - the role of context and perspective in the interpretation of objects.
To assist in developing resources - how to involve the wider school community; and leveraging your community’s collective memory towards a collaborative outcome.
To share good practice in curating exhibitions including object selection and interpretation in a museum context.

3-hour seminar delivered virtually making access easy and convenient.
Led by staff from Stonyhurst College, including Debbi Kirkby, Director of IB and DP and TOK Coordinator, and Joseph Reed, IB educator and experienced museum curator and archivist.
Limited to one registration per IBSCA member school. There are a limited number of spaces available, if sufficient interest is expressed a second date may be opened or additional spaces added.
Offered free as a benefit of IBSCA membership.
Led by:
Joseph Reed has worked at Stonyhurst for over 8 years, first as an assistant curator (specialising in museum education) before training as a qualified archivist. He has worked on exhibitions internationally and has a particular interest in manuscript studies. Joseph is also a trained IB educator. He has worked with the TOK team at Stonyhurst to develop a teaching plan and resources aimed at the successful delivery of the exhibition element of the new TOK course.
Debbie Kirkby is the Director of IB, and the DP and TOK Coordinator at Stonyhurst. She has taught TOK for the past 6 years and has worked with Joseph to develop a range of teaching and learning materials to support the TOK curriculum. Debbie is also a member of the IBSCA Steering Committee and is the lead of the Scottish/Northern regional hub.
